The web development landscape is constantly changing; that is a fact. As web designers and developers it is important that we understand where web development came from, where it is today, and more importantly where it is going. Our projects must not only be the shiny new kids on the block today, but be the trusted examples of good web development principles in the future when current trends change. Our work should be good enough to be mentioned when references are being made to web applications that have lived up to the changing demands of web development.

A lot of times as web developers and designers we are caught in the act of designing for ourselves instead of the client. Most times, the client is not with us while we are writing scripts, rolling out some design ideas, creating graphics, building web pages, positioning content, and all of the other things that we do as part of our job - and they don't have to be. It is our job when we meet them, to understand what they want - to convert their ideas into design and functional requirements that we can work with.
